More About Me - Employment & Qualifications

Employment History

After 30 years as a successful manager and trainer in the voluntary and statutory sectors. I set up my own business in 2006. I have been directly involved in service provision as a development worker, trustee and volunteer and in partnership working at local, regional and national levels. This has given me an extensive network of contacts, so if I don't have all the resources you need, I can soon find someone who does.

I was employed by the Big Lottery Fund as Development and Communication Manager for the Yorkshire and the Humber Region from 2000 to 2003. My role covered strategic work with regional agencies and advising community groups on making applications. In 2003, I was seconded as a Learning Advisor within the Fund, training grant officers nationally to assess applications to new grants programmes. This experience enables me to bring a funder's perspective to organisations that are planning new services and making grant applications. In particular I offer an understanding of outcomes based funding and monitoring and evaluation requirements.

I first gained voluntary sector experience with Age Concern England and Voluntary Action Leeds, providing advice, information, training and consultancy on organisational development and funding strategies.

My career began in Leeds City Libraries where I held a number of posts focusing on work with children, staff recruitment and training before becoming Chief Librarian from 1992 to 1993. This has given me skills in research and information management.
